Grand Mufti of Bosnia tells European Muslims to declare unequivocal commitment to EU Constitution

Dr Mustafa Ceri?, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia has told a gathering of Muslim leaders to declare their unequivocal commitment to the EU Constitution.

The Grand Mufti told the London conferences that the declaration: ?Should contain a clear message that European Muslims are fully and unequivocally committed to the European Constitution, the rule of law, the principles of tolerance and to the values of democracy and human rights?.

The three-day tour organised by Islamic Forum Europe (IFE), also saw the launch of the guide to ?Muslims in Europe?, a look at the demographic breakdown of European Muslim populations.

In launching the guide, Dr Ceri? said that it was ?not enough that Europe recognise the presence of Islam on its land.? But Muslims ?deserve their presence be legalised through the creation of a political and economic climate in which European Muslims can represent themselves through institutions that have both governmental support and public acceptance?.

The Grand Mufti?s ?Muslims in Europe? tour also included a meeting with Prince Charles and the Three Faiths Forum.

Musleh Faradhi, Islamic Forum Europe President said: ?IFE and the Muslim community endorse the Grand Mufti?s call for a social contract between European Muslims and the EU.?
