Sunday Express uses Islamophobe to make disgraceful claims against Islamic Forum of Europe

The Sunday Express article 'Government Plans New Counter-terrorism Strategies', by Ted Jeory (14/06/2009) makes the sensational claim that the Labour Party in East London has been ‘infiltrated’ by Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE). This along with the claim that it ‘exerts too much power’ over MPs and Councillors, though untrue, clearly sells papers.

Muhammad Habibur-Rahman, IFE President, said: “These claims depicting IFE as a sinister force are disgraceful. IFE has an established track record of encouraging Muslims to engage with mainstream society, including participation in the democratic process. IFE is not an 'outside element', it is a grassroots organisation whose members come from many walks of life.”

He further added, “IFE has always been and will remain a non-partisan organisation, with its members free to join any mainstream political party or none.”

Depiction of Muslim individuals and groups as sinister outside influences, trying to infiltrate political parties and institutions is racist and similar to the claims once made of Jews. Muslims like Jews are part of British society, encouraging Muslims to participate in the democratic process is not a malevolent act, but is also a key part of Government policy. These outrageous claims are inflammatory, and will only lead to more support for racist parties.

The right to change one's religion by Shaykh Abdullah Adhami
From the Code of Hammurabi to the Code of Maimonides, most major systems of law have affirmed that apostasy must be punished.
The Pilgrimage To Makkah
Never have I witnessed such sincere hospitality and overwhelming spirit of true brotherhood as is practiced by people of all colors and races here in this ancient Holy Land, the home of Abraham, Muhammad and all the other Prophets of the Holy Scriptures. For the past week, I have been utterly speechless and spellbound by the graciousness I see displayed all around me by people of all colors.
